Wick Science Center Greenhouse

Hydrangea 5 months ago

I visited the greenhouse to purchase a plant and the overall experience felt very unwelcoming. I greeted the staff and asked for help choosing a plant that would do well in a bathroom. While I was told “snake plant,” the interaction felt very minimal and lacked any real engagement or guidance. The student workers stayed behind the table and did not make much effort to assist or create a welcoming environment. When it came time to pay, the only options were cash or Venmo, which made the transaction unnecessarily difficult. I tried to problem-solve by asking if there were other payment options, but the interaction remained stiff. What stood out most was the lack of warmth. In a space that promotes community and equity, I expected a more inclusive and approachable experience. Instead, the atmosphere felt closed off. I hope in the future there can be more attention to customer interaction, accessibility in payment options, and creating a genuinely welcoming environment.
